The Society for All Artists were challenged to create an exhibition with the most original artworks under one roof - and achieved it with the help of its members. Each artist had to produce an artwork that was 3.5" x 2.5" in whatever medium they chose.   The Ryde Art Collective's 16 members decided that individual pictures would not be challenge enough and decided to take the map of the Isle of Wight and divide it into sections. There were 42 sections in all, and each artist completed several sections.  Together, they produced a wonderful impression of the Isle of Wight which now hangs in the exhibition at the SAA HQ in Newark.
My point?  Teamwork and challenge.  Individually we can achieve great things. Together, we can achieve so much more. Working together, the total is more than the sum of the parts.
The challenge is learning to be selfless and to share achievement. It is not about being the best, being in charge, being noticed as the most useful.  Challenging ourselves to step back and help others, to be the person who grows others to reach their potential is the real achievement.
Next time your team is looking at a project, be the person who sees the goal and helps everyone to exceed it.  Be a shining light for your team.
