Stine's picture of a dog up against the second step is a good graphic that shows what it feels like when we can't see the way forward.
The dog could easily look up and see the way to get to the next step but he is right up against the step and can't see how he can move.
By opening our minds to possibilities, other routes, other opportunities, we can move on and up.  It's about the bigger picture.  What can you see around you?  Concrete? Carpet? a wall?
Step back and look at the wider picture.  Do you see other routes? A different way to go?  Now is the time - January- to look for new beginnings, new routes, new ways of thinking.  Your new year resolutions may have been all about the second step - what more could you see if you opened your eyes?
